its a liitle wet when its fresh so if the hedgehog or something else smushes it, it may be a little difficult to clean up. as long as you're on top of it it should be ok. wet paper towels sometimes help.

  • Why does my rat have strong smelling runny droppings? ?

I have an albino rat (8 months)that is supposedly pregnant. Her stools are extremely foul smelling, runny and resemble ferret droppings. Nothing has changed in her diet, I think it might be because of the stress of being pregnant. She also looks like she might have a bloody nose, but the discharge is just pinky-red. Any tips on how to help her out? Why does my rat have strong smelling runny droppings? ?
She is probably just stressed. When rats have a lot of stress it shows in their droppings and being pregnant is very stressful. Just try to make her as comfortable as possible. Why does my rat have strong smelling runny droppings? ?
The discharge from her nose is a sign of a respiratory infection, that needs to be treated immediately by a vet.

The smelly poop, many possibilities. If there is alfalfa in her diet you should stop feeding it immediately. Alfalfa is not digestable to rats and makes for very bad smelling poop.
where u adopted her go to that place and ask about it. or any other petco or petsmart anything they will give u answers and what to use
because she has too much vitamin C in her diet. do you feed her carrots?

Could bird (for example, parakeet) droppings be considered a hazard to human health?

Hi. I have two budgies, and I love them to death. I know they're indoor birds, so at first I wanted to keep them indoors in our living room. However, my parents are worried that the droppings could lead to illnesses, so as a result, we keep them outdoors on nice days, and leave them in the basement at nights. They still get a lot of attention, but I still prefer to keep them indoors at all times. Could someone please clear up this subject matter for me, and whether my parents' theory about illnesses transmitted through the feces is true or not? Any response will be greatly appreciated. ThanksCould bird (for example, parakeet) droppings be considered a hazard to human health?
Take them to the vet and get a blood work up. If they come back salmonella negative, you're good to go. This check can usually be done for fairly cheap.

Usually, budgies are extremely clean and disease free, but a vet check is good for relieving stress...

    Hope it works out.

To Plumber whatever... You CANNOT get HIV or AIDS from birds, and certainly not from bird feces. If you're going to cut and paste from a site, then you need to learn to understand the big words on that site before spouting off.Could bird (for example, parakeet) droppings be considered a hazard to human health?
I dunno but as far as I know ( still a kid ) bird droppings are useful in plants. I advise you to keep your pets in a cage. Underneath is a litter box but don't forget to empty that litter box everyday!
For starters get them out of the basement budgies are social animals too,as for the poop,me n my kids have never been sick becauese I cleaned up the poop as soon as I saw it,myself,I don't think any poop is disease free but great hygene habits are a good thing as long as you clean up after them.
I have had birds all my life since I was a little young lad I have never had any adverse affects from bird droppings. I use them for fertalizer in my Marijuanan plants!
Ok now for some intelligence... If you got your birds from the wilderness, yes you could possibly get ill from their droppings. We are talking about parakeets people!.. The seed they eat is totally organic which is as healthy as it gets. I have raised these birds my entire life and that's a long time... I nor anyone I know has ever gotten sick from my birds droppings. Just clean out your cage two to three times a week. Don't let them play with the pidgeons in the park. Wild birds carry all kinds of diseases. Domestic animals that are taken good care of and kept inside, will not unless wild birds come into contact with them, if that happens, take your birds to an avian vet. They are not expensive.

As far as your parents go, they need to get a better education and read up on things instead of panicking for no reason. By the way just fyi... the bird flu is a load of dung too there is no such thing in the USA.
No. all they eat is seeds so there waste is completely organic and doesn't do anything
Yes in pigeons their dropping's when breathed in can cause psittacosis
If feces are not handled properly, then yes, illnesses can be transmitted. Psittacine pneumonia is one of the diseases and it can lead to HIV which leads to AIDS. Always handle feces with the utmost care - wear rubber (disposable) gloves and a face mask to protect your lungs. Wash hands thoroughly with soap and hot water immediately, especially after cleaning your pets' cage. Also see source article listed below.

What do mouse droppings look like?

I came home to see some black dots on my floor in my bathroom and in my sink (small and round like poppy seeds) I have no clue what it is....could it be mouse droppings? Do I have a mouse (aaahhhh!!)?What do mouse droppings look like?
Sweep it up, do the required heebee jeebee dance (to get the itchiness out of your system) and take a close look.

Mouse droppings typically look like black rice - and it usually has pointed ends (but not always).

If they are truely round (spherical), it sounds like you had some seeds fall off of something usually breads of some kind. Are you planting anything from seed? Ask the people you live with.

If you do in fact have mice, relax. There are ways of dealing with them:

The most passive and least painful for them is a gadget you plug into your wall - it shreeks so high you can't hear it but it'll drive the mice out. They usually cost 20 bucks, but they last for years.

The next option you have are sticky traps - you might be able to find a good deal on them at dollar stores.

Tip - grab a chocolate bar that has peanuts in it and pinch off a bit. Stick it in the middle of the trap and push down.

Put the traps against the wall and check the traps daily (although you'll probably hear them squeeking). Pick up the trap with tongs (to avoid getting bitten) and either set them free several miles from your house with veggie oil or stick the poor thing in a box and freeze it to death in your freezer. They hybernate and it'll probably just die in it's sleep.

Next are the typical mouse traps - avoid these if you have small children, they can hurt their fingers. Set them with chocolate and peanuts in the bait, and against the wall. You may have to kill the mice if the trap doesn't do it, and just toss the mice in the trash.

There are two more kinds of traps - poison or electric. Poison I suggest you avoid as they can end up killing birds you DO want around. Electric ones you can rent. Either way you're still tossing dead mice in the trash.

The last option after all of these is poison itself. Usually in pellet form, but you can fumigate your house if you choose to. Avoid these if you have other pets, kids or you're even minorly fond of any of the animals in your neighbourhood.

Please remember: poison doesn't stop with killing the mice - other animals eat the bodies / they rot and it gets into the water. What do mouse droppings look like?
It does seems like the droppings very in size but the mice around my rural area definitely have small rice like droppings, they more look like little seeds. Across the country I'm sure the size varies of the seed like droppings.

Mouse droppings look almost like pieces of rice except a little thicker and dark brown-black.

Definitely not like a poppy seed. Not sure what that could be. The good news is, you probably do not have mice. The bad news, there is probably something else there.

    Hope that helps.
What you've described sounds more like roach droppings...
Yes you do have a wild mouse in the house. You should get rid of it.
Black dots? Why do u ask?
