What do flea droppings look like?

I'm taking my cat to the vet Friday to get treated for possible fleas, and also for being lethargic and barely eating anything (just licking).

Anyways, I was just wondering what flea droppings look like? I found these darkish brown specks on my cat that is curved and looks like the letter C. Are these flea droppings? My cat never scratches himself and seems to have lost the interest to groom himself as he used to.

And if you can answer, is it possible for fleas (or what they carry or do) cause your cat to lose it's appetite and be lethargic? What do flea droppings look like?
Flea droppings literally look like little specs of black or dark brown dirt. I'm not sure what you mean by ';curved and looks like the letter C';, but what you found is likely flea dirt.

Fleas can carry various diseases that can make a cat sick and some can also be transmitted to humans. A loss in appetite is never a good thing, so I'm glad your kitty is on the way to the vets office.

Good luckWhat do flea droppings look like?
A lot of people call it flea dirt because it really looks a lot like dirt. If it is fleas your cat might be anemic. You can check its gums to see if this might be a problem. If your cats gums are white I suggest you go to the vet right away. There are many things that could cause the lack of appetite and lethargy. A vet can best determine what the problem is
yes, the curvy things are flea droppings. It's that color because it's dried blood. While you are at the vet, get your cat treated for worms because she may have those from the fleas.
As the other people have answered, flea ';droppings'; look like grains of dirt.

The things that you say are shaped like a ';c';. Are these under the skin or clearly on top? If they are under the skin they could be worms (ring?).

The lethargy could be more likely to be from a worm infestation of the gut. Have you done a worming treatment on your cat? An infestation of fleas is more likely to cause your cat discomfort - continual scratching, possible hair loss if left to develop (ie, mange).

I would get the cat to the vet asap to be checked over and to possibly have a blood test (if needed).

Good luck
Hi, sorry your cat isn't feeling too well please take a look at this link i found, it will answer your questions and uses pictures to show you what flea droppings look like.

Good Luck at the vets.....
Flea dropping are small brown or black round pellets. They get matted in the hair and can actually kill an animal from the sheer amount of germs in them. Im not sure what you found on your cat, best thing to do is just ask the vet.
It looks like pepper and will turn a rust color when you wet it with water. Flea poop is full of the host animals blood and causes the rust color.
Here is a pic, and yes it does look somewhat like a C in some of it.
